I am having a problme with the lifters on a 1990 Mercedes 300D 2.5 TURBO.
They seem to make a clicking sound. I had them replaced under warranty last
year, but after storing the car from november to april the problem is
happening again, but now it only happens when the car is cold, but I am
afraid it will start happening all the time again. Does anyone know what
is causing this, could it be the storage?

This car runs great! It hasn’t given me a problem yet. I have had it for
a little over a year. I need to sell it because I commute back and forth
to college, thus putting around 500 miles per week on the car. I want to
start off with a new car so I won’t have to worry so much about the mileage
as much. The car currently has 75,200 miles. I am asking $5,500 O.B.O.
This is available to anyone in the Cleveland or Akron area. Willing to travel
a distance to sell if need be. Come and check it out…What can you lose!!

Meguires and hard water spots
Saturday, October 31st, 2009 The water at my house is VERY hard stuff. No matter how soon I dry the
car after washing, it leaves noticiable spots. Waxing over them with #6
"cleaner/wax" works to get the spots off, but will I hurt the paint by
doing this every week? (not to mention damaging my marriage and elbows in
the process
)
Is there a better way to prevent water spots, other than moving or
putting a water conditioner in?
Is there a particullar series of applications, such as glaze, then
cleaner/wax, that would be better?
Help much appreciated.

Help: Removing Smoke Smell from Car Interior
Saturday, October 31st, 2009 Hi,
Can anyone recommend an effective way to remove smoke odor
from a car? We bought a car from a relative (yeah..I know <grin>)
who was a smoker. I called around to several car upholstery
cleaners here in Sacramento. A couple of then said they would
thoroughly shampoo the interior fabric and that should help a great
deal. One guy, however, spoke of applying a gas which would
go through the A/C, etc, and totally remove the smoke odor. He
claims the gas is commonly used to take the smell away after
fires in dwellings. He would also wash all the fabric, etc.
He stated that this treatment has been around for awhile and that he
does insurance company work involving stolen vehicle clean-up, etc.
Has anyone ever heard of this type of treatment? The car is not that
bad, I can live with it. However. if this is an effective, and _safe_
treatment (no harm to car, no harm to future occupants), it
might be worthwhile.
Opinions?
Thanks,

Re: Raise the Limits?
Saturday, October 31st, 2009 To a point I agree with you but I think you are leaving out a
signifcant portion of the unsafe cars. Just because a car
is pre 1980 doesn’t mean they are unsafe at faster highway
speeds (remember the speed limit used to be 70 or 75 depending
on the state when these cars were manufactured). A neglected
car whether it is a 1950 or a 1994 is a menance on the road.
We used to have a yearly safety inspection (instead of polution)
that weeded out many unsafe cars. Now all you need is a clean
engine to get on the road. It doesn’t matter what shape your
tires, suspension, or drive train is in. Colorado has opted
for clean air rather than safe cars.
Leaded vs unleaded fuel
Saturday, October 31st, 2009 I don’t know much about the mechanical difference between the engines
running on leaded and unleaded fuel.
If a car with recommendation for unleaded fuel is run on leaded fuel,
what can go wrong? Is it just environmental/pollution related or does it have
anything to do with the engine mechanically?
Any insights will be really appreciated.

Any opinion about Sterling 825S.
Saturday, October 31st, 2009 Hi,
Is there anybody has owned or has driven Sterling 825S?
I don’t think this car is popular since I have never seen it or heard
about it before. Of course, it might be due to my ignorance . Please give
me some information about this car as well as Sterling itself.
