Question about Airbags

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I have a question about airbags which i hope someone can answer: what
happens when you get in an accident and the airbag inflates while you
are wearing glasses? (whether they be perscription or sunglasses)  Has
anyone done any studies on the effects this problem? I think they
could be some serious injury if the nosepad thingies get rammed into
the area below your eyes.

Any comments would be appreciated.

help: looking for honda accessories

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hello Everyone

I’m looking for a shop that carries accessaries for honda civics.
Not the performance stuff, but the cosmetic stuff like decals,
spoilers, digital tachs, center armrests, etc.
If you could also tell me if these shops provide a catalogue
listing their accessories that would be great.  I’d prefer these
shops be in Canada or the US.

        Thanks in advance.

end of the year questions????

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I am looking to buy a end of the year 1994 probe and want to know if anyone
knows what sort of rebates are being offered. I tried to buy a base probe with
auto, a 253a package and ABS for a everything tax and tags price of 15500 and
got laughed at for my trouble.  Should I keep looking, am I asking to much or
was the sales man just being exceptionally greedy?  I have seen base probes
in the paper with pretty much niothing on them for 11.6k so the price I was
offering seemed fair to me.
If I can’t get the car I want at the price I want I am thinking about
getting one through United Buyers.  Doeas anyone know if 94 cars can still be
ordered or barring that when the 95′s are likely to be available to order?
Finally, aong the same lines as the untied buyers does anyone know how much
more expensive the 95 probes are going to be?   I appreciate any help that
anyone can give with any of theese questions.

Toyota rust protect. advice

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hi!  I was wondering if people could help me on a question about rust
protecting a 1988 Toyota Tercel hatchback…

Our family bought the car new and rust-protected, however, the underbody
is now showing signs of rust damage.  (In fact the original muffler system
had to be replaced last year because rust holes had developed in it, but
that’s off the point…)  Our local garage says that we should have the car
undercoated with some oil-based mixture they are recommending, however the
Toyota dealership where we bought the car says nothing needs to be done.

What are your opinions on the matter (please bear in mind that the car
will be going through yet another winter of constant driving through icy and
snowy conditions.  Ottawa also dumps a lot of salt on its roads, too!)

Thanks in advance,

MW+I’m about ready for my 1984 Fiero to explode, but it won’t cooperate.  ;-)

MW+Seriously, though, it wasn’t so much explosions as just catching fire.
+I don’t think anyone actually died.

The Fiero is made out of 65% of combustable metals and materials.
So if it does catch fire….it burns REALLY fast.  So if you get in a
wreck, get out FAST! :)

MBZ SUV USA ???

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

I saw a Mercedes "Gelandewagen" (actually badged with their usual
letters-and-numbers scheme) yesterday. I gave chase, but was on
my bicycle, and the combination of internal combustion and a
string of green lights saved him from being late for work on
account of answering a buncha gearhead questions.

Are these things being imported to the US now, or was this a grey-
market job?  It had regular California plates.

(We’re talking about a vaguely Montero-like 4WD that made Car and
Driver’s list of "10 best cars you can’t get here" a few years ago.)

GTM Coupe (UK kit car) – Comments?

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Although as yet I don’t have enough money, I am very interested in a kit
car produced in the UK called the GTM Coupe. It is mini-based, but uses
the interesting configuration of *two* mini subframes; one with an engine
(at the rear) and one without (at the front). From the road tests it
appears that the car has somewhat legendary handling and few quirks; I
was wondering if anyone had experience of the car to relate!

Replies preferred via E-mail; I can’t guarantee I’d catch them on the
newsgroup!

US vs. Canadian Models

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Believe it or not I have always been interested in the differences in
the naming of US vs. Canadian models. The thread about "Audi vs DODGE
Reliant" reminded me of this. In the US this Dodge would be called
"Aries" I assume. Any one close to the border would like to list
different names between the countries? Thanks for the info.
